Biography

VivianaVerdugo Biber lives and works in Santiago de Chile. She studied Arts at the University of Chile, majoring in painting and photography. During those years, she participated in several collective exhibitions in photography, including the Chilean American Institute, the Chilean-British Institute, the University of Chile, and the Anahuac Gallery. She graduated with the highest fine arts distinction in 1988.

Upon graduation, she became an assistant professor at the School of Arts at the University of Chile and taught photography for a couple of years. She moved away from the arts for ten years until 2004, when she started painting. By 2010 she was invited to exhibit work at the Brio Gallery in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This exhibit was a Chilean contemporary art exhibit entitled “Three women, two lands” and was in commemoration of the Bicentennial.

Currently, she conducts an experimental painting workshop at the Swiss School in Santiago and works at theCasa LimónAtelier with a group of artists. Through painting, she explores life.

Biografía

Viviana Verdugo Biber vive y trabaja en Santiago de Chile. Estudió Licenciatura en Artes Plásticas en la Universidad de Chile y se especializó en pintura y fotografía. Durante esos años participó en varias exposiciones colectivas de fotografía incluyendo el Instituto Chileno Norteamericano, el Instituto Chileno Británico, la Casa Central de la Universidad de Chile, y la Galería Anáhuac. Se graduó con distinción máxima de la Escuela de Artes de la Universidad de Chile en 1990.

Trabajó como profesor asistente en la Escuela de Artes de la Universidad de Chile en la especialidad de fotografía por un par de años para luego alejarse del arte por 10 años, retomando en el año 2004 la pintura. El año 2010 con motivo de la celebración del Bicentenario, fue invitada a exponer a la Galería de Arte Brio en San Juan Puerto Rico. La exhibición se tituló: “Tres Mujeres, dos tierras”.

Actualmente realiza un taller de pintura experimental en El Colegio Suizo de Santiago y trabaja en el Taller “Casa Limón” con un grupo de artistas. Acompañada por la pintura explora la vida.
